Finding Your Ring Size

How to Measure your Finger

  1. Find a piece of string or strip of paper no wider than 3/4".
  2. Wrap it around the base of the appropriate finger.
  3. Mark the point where the string/paper overlaps to form a complete circle.
  4. With a ruler, measure the length from the start of the string/paper to the mark.
  5. Apply this measurement to the chart on the right to find your ring size.

Tips for Measuring Ring Size:

  1. After sliding the ring size over the knuckle, make sure it slides off just as easily.
  2. Don't measure fingers when cold, since they contract and will appear smallest.
  3. You’ll get the most accurate measurement at the end of the day when the finger is at its largest.
  4. If you're buying the ring as a surprise, ask a relative or close friend of your partner if they know their finger size.
  5. Borrow one of your partner's rings and slide it down a tapered candle. Repeat above finger-measuring exercise with string/paper, but using the point on the candle where the ring stopped.
